5.1 Calculating the radial force on a moving part

An agitator usually has four to six blades. There is no universal calculation rule for estimating the radial force generated by an agitator. Depending on the manufacturer, the radial force may be distributed identically between the various blades (in the case of a well-balanced system in a homogeneous medium), or applied to a single blade (in the extreme, but conceivable, case of a heterogeneous medium, where the agitator is caught up in the medium being agitated, or where the agitator is dewatered during filling or emptying, etc.). In addition, the point of application of the force can also vary between the middle and the tip of the blade.
