7. Conclusion

Increasingly demanding, today's consumers are no longer just looking for effective products, but formulas that contribute to their daily well-being and are free from health risks. At the same time, they are turning to products based on ingredients of natural origin, more respectful of their skin and hair, but also of the environment. This new "natural" trend is prompting manufacturers to develop new, original, bio-based emollients, offering sensory profiles similar to those conferred by currently available petro-based emollients. The search for substitutes for petroleum-based silicone oils characterized by very low biodegradability is at the heart of cosmetics industry research today. The unique sensory profile in terms of spreadability and light, soft feel that they bring to formulations is, however, difficult to match.
