Emollient; emollient

A chemical ingredient, of natural or synthetic origin, used to improve the spreading properties of cosmetic products and soften and moisturize the skin, reinforcing its natural barrier function. Chemically speaking, these molecules can contain carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and silicon atoms, and belong to several chemical families. Most often, they contain between ten and thirty carbon atoms, but in the case of polymers, they may contain more.

Fatty substances

Substances composed mainly of triglycerides, often characterized by a wide range of viscosities. Depending on their state at room temperature, fats are known by different names: wax, fat or oil.
