1. Antioxidant preservation of cosmetic products

1.1 Definitions, generalities and issues

The term "antioxidant" can be defined in various ways. From a chemical point of view, an antioxidant opposes the phenomenon of oxidation or inhibits reactions caused by oxygen or peroxides. Biologically speaking, antioxidants are synthetic or natural substances used to prevent or retard product deterioration.

According to the Institute for Medicine, it is a substance that significantly reduces the adverse effects of reactive species such as ROS (Reactive Oxygen Species) or RNS (Reactive Nitrogen Species) on normal human physiological functions
