7.1 Stabilizing annealing
Stabilization annealing is sometimes necessary after the coating has been produced, to give it different properties from those obtained when it left the bath. This annealing enables :
improve the coating's adhesion by diffusing it into the underlay or substrate;
release the internal stresses created during the deposit ;
release gases trapped in the coating during electrolysis.
