1. Bismuth properties

Bismuth belongs to group VB of the Mendeleiev classification. These elements show a tendency towards metallic character, but bismuth, with its high atomic number, is not a true metal; it differs from other metals in having lower electrical conductivity in the solid state than in the liquid state and, at ordinary temperatures, lower thermal conductivity.

1.1 Physical properties

Bismuth is a brittle, pinkish metal with yellow and blue iridescence due to surface oxidation.
