Humoral allergy results in the production of antibodies and immunoglobulins. The symptoms are mainly respiratory.
In terms of testing, measurements of immunoglobulin E (IgE) levels and specific pulmonary reactions in guinea pigs (bronchoconstriction) can be developed.
There are no validated animal tests. Consequently, the hazard assessment for these respiratory sensitizers is performed in humans, under medical supervision, using bronchial provocation tests; it may also be based on retrospective clinical observations in individuals who have developed a respiratory allergic reaction in the presence of a substance.
