2.1 Define the audit team

The decision to carry out a supplier audit does not rest solely with the quality department. The purchasing or production departments, in particular, often ask the quality department to set up a supplier audit.

Depending on the situation, the supplier audit team (often 1 to 3 people) will be made up of representatives from the following departments:

• the quality department, an auditor familiar with the applicable quality standards (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, EN 9100, ISO 22000, etc.);

• the purchasing department, representing the customer and/or the contract manager for the supplier;
