Is a production procedure required?
ISO 9001 does not require a production procedure, any more than it does for other subjects, but it does require production to be controlled. If the organization decides to write a procedure, it's because it deems it necessary and useful. Documents, when they exist, are a working tool for the people involved. These documents must be as relevant as possible, with added value for the people concerned. They must be easy to read, and sometimes photos or diagrams speak for themselves. Documentation must also be available at the point of use. We therefore need to think about the ways in which it can be made available, in particular by taking advantage of technological and digital developments.
