4. Take the opportunity to review processes

The implementation of a paperless approach within the laboratory should enable a complete review of practices in terms of quality management. The fact that the management tool is computerized and no longer paper-based is bound to lead to changes in practices.

It's not a good idea to try and duplicate IT with paper-based management - in fact, you'd be hard-pressed to find an IT solution capable of doing so. On the contrary, it's a good idea to see what IT solutions have to offer, and take inspiration from them.

For example, the referencing of quality documents is very complex in paper management, to enable documents to be filed in the right place in the right binder, and limited to a simple numerical incrementation in IT management.
