Don't confuse need and function: a function is a way in which the product satisfies a need.
4.1 Determine needs (or expectations)
Identify the people who interact with the product:
sellers, distributor ;
buyers, decision-makers ;
installer, setter ;
users ;
maintenance manager ;
etc.
