Pierre-Antoine GARCIA: Quality Safety Environment Consultant
INTRODUCTION
Within the ISO 9000 family of quality management standards, ISO 9004 occupies a prominent place. It provides recommendations for building a quality management system (QMS) that ensures the company's survival through continuous improvement and a high level of performance.
ISO 9004 is complementary to and consistent with ISO 9001, but can be used on its own. It is not intended for third-party certification, regulatory or contractual purposes.
At French, European and global level, it serves as a reference document on the road to excellence, opening the door to recognition through quality awards. Companies of all sizes, public services, financial institutions, etc., can simply use it as THE management model for their organization.
ISO 9004 proposes a QMS management model that is a "springboard" for building an integrated system (quality/health and safety/environment) paving the way towards corporate social responsibility.
