6. ISO 9004:2009: What's new?

In November 2009, ISO 9004 was upgraded from version 2000 to version 2009. This is the third version of the standard. The work of the ISO/TC 176 technical committee has resulted in a technical revision that benefits from eight years' experience in applying the standard worldwide.

The main change to ISO 9004 concerns (but is not limited to) the management of a company's sustainable performance. This significantly modifies and enriches the text of the standard in terms of content, form and presentation. It also improves consistency with ISO 9001 and other management system standards.
