 INTRODUCTION

Articles L. 110-1 and L. 122-1 of the French Environment Code ( Code de l’environnement ) provide a framework for the consideration of natural environments and their components in impact studies, establishing a principle of precaution, preventive action and corrective action in relation to these components, and subjecting to an impact study developments or works which, through their impact on the natural environment, may be detrimental to it.

As the operator of a facility classified for environmental protection, you are required to produce a study of the impacts of your activity on the environment, with a view to eliminating, reducing or compensating for them. The fauna/flora component of this study is particularly important. This fact sheet explains the methodology, preparation and content of this study.
