 INTRODUCTION

As an industrial operator of activities likely to cause a nuisance, you need to be aware of and comply with the applicable regulatory constraints.

These constraints are defined by the law on classified installations, which has created different classification regimes. There are four different regimes, depending on the level of environmental pollution (in ascending order of presumed pollution):

  • declaration system (D) ;

  • declaration with periodic inspection (DC) ;

  • registration (E) ;

  • authorization system (A) ;

The aim of this fact sheet is to present the various existing regimes, while helping you to determine the regime applicable to your installations, products, equipment, etc.

The classification system is the decisive criterion for the effective application of the law, since it determines the legal, technical and financial framework within which the facility can be created or continue to operate.
