4. Demonstrate the effect of prevention barriers
A fault tree provides an overview of all the different combinations of causes. In hazard studies, they are also used to identify the preventive barriers put in place to prevent the occurrence of the dreaded event.
Preventive measures are generally symbolized by bars that oppose the accident sequence, as shown in the figure "Symbolic representation of the effect of a preventive barrier".
