6. Mistakes to avoid

6.1 Don't be a perfectionist

Don't look for a perfect system... on paper! Avoid :

• a system that meets ISO 9001 requirements, but which is out of step with the company's activities and practices; in this case, buy-in and ownership would be more difficult to achieve;

• procedures that are unnecessary in relation to the activities and/or experience of the company's personnel;

• overly detailed procedures. This can quickly become a brake on the system's evolution, and can disempower individuals.
