Capacity planning

Checking and deciding on the level of capacity needed to meet future demand. This planning can be carried out at a global level, by product family, or at a detailed level, by resource, depending on the time horizon considered.

Spout

Resource (machine, production line, type of personnel, etc.) whose capacity, at a given moment and for a given organization, is the lowest in the production chain under consideration.

Unit time

The time required for a resource or set of resources to manufacture or transform a good product. This takes into account changeover times, non-quality, yield, etc. This time may be standard (calculated as a target) or actual.
