5. Mistakes to avoid

  • Even if the industrialization of your innovation represents what seems to you to be a small amount of time in relation to total production, don't imagine that it has no impact on capacity; even then, it can change the position of the bottleneck. And don't forget that several innovations can be industrialized in parallel...

  • It cannot be stressed enough that the collection of data linked to load/capacity analysis should not be carried out at the start of series production: it's far too late to react calmly! As soon as the first estimates are available, they need to be collected, and the flow management teams need to be made aware of their potential impact.

  • Don't assume that a parameter (product dimensions, quality data, etc.) has no influence on capacity: check with your flow control and production...
