2. What services does intelligence provide?

The allocation of services rendered by a monitoring unit, in accounting lines, is a thorny issue: costs are often traceable and identifiable (software, manpower, purchase of information flows...), while benefits are more often difficult to determine, for the reasons outlined above.

This should not obscure the fact that a watch unit undeniably provides services that cannot be quantified over the long term.

  • The intelligence function brings information culture into the company: it makes people realize that useful information can be available, but also that it can be shared.

  • Acculturation is essential: business intelligence helps companies to understand their environment. Although its effects are difficult to "trace", it is undeniable that understanding one's environment is a major challenge...
