1.1 Finite element formulations for fluid/structure interaction

Numerical simulation has become a standard engineering tool in industry, complementing or replacing tests on physical demonstrators, and contributing to the design of complex systems and the justification of their performance (mechanical strength under normal and accidental operating conditions, environmental impact, service life, etc.) [Sigrist, 2021]. It is constantly innovating, in response to the needs of its industrial users, in particular the need to rely on numerical models that account for fine-grained physics.
