1. Understanding emotional intelligence

The main brain structures involved in emotion include the amygdala (emotional response), the hippocampus (memory) and the prefrontal cortex (rational thinking). High emotional states can disconnect the prefrontal cortex, hindering the logical reasoning necessary for survival.

Everyone has emotional intelligence. Those who lack it may have suffered trauma or been subjected to significant stress. Emotions are natural, and the formation of emotional responses involves essential steps linked to emotional maturity. The first step is to recognize and name emotions, which helps to regain control.
