 INTRODUCTION

Multimedia monitoring involves the use of specific methods and tools designed to automatically search for and collect a wide variety of content and image, video and audio formats. Multimedia content analysis also involves innovative approaches such as speech-to-text and facial recognition. Finally, in the age of short, visual forms, multimedia is establishing itself as a broadcasting mode that complements the classic text mode. This fact sheet provides an overview of multimedia monitoring practices, in terms of collection, processing and dissemination, not forgetting the risks of content manipulation (photomontage, deep fakes, etc.).
