 INTRODUCTION

The new procedure for opposition to a French patent stems from the "Pact" law no. 2019-486 of May 22, 2019 (implemented and then supplemented by ordinance no. 2020-116 of February 12, 2020 and decree no. 2020-225 of March 6, 2020), relating to the growth and transformation of businesses. This procedure appears similar to that used before the European Patent Office (EPO).

The purpose of this sheet is to explain the conditions under which an objection can be lodged, detail the procedure and list its effects.
