6. How does the opposition procedure work?

Filing the notice of opposition, which must be done within nine months of publication of the grant of the French patent in the BOPI, triggers the start of the opposition procedure.

The opposition procedure comprises three phases: an admissibility phase, an investigation phase and a decision phase.
