1. Defining what needs to be protected and how
Within a company, intellectual creation covers many different aspects: product, slogan, jingle, music, database, software, industrial process. This creation may be only partially protected.
However, all the aspects you would like to protect may not fall within the scope of intellectual property, either because the innovative character is non-existent or insufficient, or because protection proves unsuitable (time too long, costs too high).
It is therefore necessary to break down all the elements of the process in order to draw up a list of those elements which are covered by protection and those which are not.
