First, explain the principle of creative distancing, and how these techniques allow you to take a step back.

If necessary, use a simple example to demonstrate the mechanism.

In any case, don't use them without first introducing and explaining them. It's preferable, especially for the analogy technique, to use them with participants who are already trained to unleash their imagination.
