4. The analogy technique: how does it work?
4.1 The principle
The analogy technique is more difficult to implement than inversion, but it allows a greater degree of remoteness. It's based on the principle of transposition: you transpose the subject into another universe and look for ideas in that other universe, before transposing them in the opposite direction. The advantage of this technique is that, in the "parallel" universe, you escape the implicit constraints that come with knowing too much about the original universe.
The transposed subject must have an analogy with the original subject.
