5. Applications of Alstom’s tilting technology

In this section the technical solutions for bogie, tilt mechanism, actuation (carbody and pantograph if fitted), tilt control and diagnostics applied by Alstom, will be covered.

The products delivered to the market are listed and described, particularly the 1 st , 2 nd and 3 rd  generation Pendolinos, ICN (with Bombardier), WCML Class 390 and Avelia Liberty™ (Amtrak NGHST). Other projects in conjunction with different suppliers such as Talgo, CAF and Siemens are also mentioned.

This will be done using a mixture of bibliographic references and direct experience of the numerous products in service, analysing the reasoning behind their chosen configuration and how the key systems have benefitted from improvement...
