Like all company departments, metrology must commit to a continuous improvement approach, but what does "continuous improvement" mean in a world of limited resources?

We have inherited a world in which the principle of "who can do more, can do less" has proved to be deleterious. Following this principle, improvement runs the risk of becoming a form of "always more". sometimes forgetting another principle: "The best is often the enemy of the good"...

These days, "quality" must go hand in hand with "efficiency", i.e. achieving the "just necessary". This is no longer an option when we consider the impact of our actions on the planet! We mustn't "do too much", we mustn't "do too little", we must strive for the "just necessary", i.e. an alignment between the efforts made and the services rendered.
