2. Draw up an inventory of measuring equipment
The instrument inventory, if it doesn't already exist, is an important step. It involves listing all the measuring instruments available to the company, as well as, and perhaps more importantly, information on how they are used (as indicated above, using the suggested scales, for example).
This stage often requires the use of IT resources, as "paper" management is now relegated to the previous century. It is important to have as much information as possible in digital format, as most of it will be used, in one way or another, for management purposes.
This inventory is often an opportunity to "standardize" a number of things. In particular, it's important to be rigorous and exhaustive when naming instruments (refer to standards, for example). It's also a good idea to specify the brand, measurement range(s), reading mode, resolution and accessories....
