3. Defining management strategies
Once the inventory has been drawn up, it's time to define the actions to be taken to ensure that the resources are maintained in operational condition. These conditions depend essentially on what we saw in Step 1.
The criticized practices of "Quality" certification have to some extent focused on the periodic connection of instruments, no doubt because it's easy to check the date and methods of connection (metrological traceability to international standards, a task assigned in particular to COFRAC). But calibration only guarantees the past! While it provides information on the state of the instrument on the calibration date, it is not predictive! It says nothing, by its very nature, about what the company is actually interested in: will the measurements that will be made with this instrument on a daily basis in the future be sufficiently reliable for use?...
