 INTRODUCTION

These optical methods of non-contact dimensional measurement generally lead to the production of low-cost sensors. They are widely used in mechanical engineering, where they can be found in the form of simple all-or-nothing sensors used to automate machines, or, at higher cost, in the form of simple one-dimensional measuring sensors. The most complex systems enable three-dimensional measurements. In most cases, they are simple to implement and their operating principle is never very complex.
