 INTRODUCTION

Sensors and non-contact dimensional measurement methods are many and varied. These methods are characterized by their measurement range, the type of part they measure, measurement speed and distance, resolution and accuracy. These are the parameters that guide the engineer's choice when faced with a distance or displacement measurement problem.

Data is constantly evolving, particularly in terms of the speed with which profiles, shapes and surface conditions can be measured, where the rapid improvement and cost reduction of IT resources means that sensor data can be processed ever more rapidly and in ever greater quantities.

The values shown represent the state of the art for ECUs mainly equipped with 200 MHz clocks.
