2. Harvesting, storage and transport
Successful storage and handling of whole soybeans depends mainly on three factors: moisture content, temperature and storage time (figure 2 ).

Harvest
Immediately after harvest, soybeans are usually stored locally in a grain silo or on the farm. If necessary, the beans are artificially dried to a moisture content that is safe for storage.
At 20°C and 14% humidity, storage lasts 100 days. At 16% humidity, the temperature must be lowered to achieve the same stability.

Drying is carried out immediately after harvesting in order to stabilize the seeds microbiologically....
