4. Identify the combustible materials used on your site
Combustible products are bodies that burn with oxygen supplied by an oxidizer. At a certain temperature, combustibles can release vapors and fumes, as well as heat. Potential hazards are linked to the capacity of these products to ignite, and also to the possibility of physico-chemical reactions, or reactions linked to a risky process, with other products, materials or equipment located nearby. This means knowing and controlling the conditions under which products are used.
These can be wooden pallets or pallet waste, cardboard and paper, but also polyethylene materials (plastic bottles, plastic film, etc.), cardboard or PVC cores, etc.
It is therefore also important to know the list of the various products and solid combustible materials present on the site, the volumes involved and the storage locations. A sample inventory table is shown...
