1.1 Quality planning
Quality planning refers to "the part of quality management focused on defining quality objectives and specifying the operational processes and associated resources needed to achieve the quality objectives" (cf. ISO 9001 reference standard).
This notion includes, but is not limited to, time planning, and also concerns the identification, preparation and provision of resources (human, material, methods, financial, etc.) and processes.
Quality planning can also include the notion of a quality plan for a product, project or business.
The importance of this concept can be gauged by the number of times the term "planning" appears in the ISO 9901 standard:
