3. Management plan principles

Generally speaking, the management plan must be proportionate to the pollution and its extent. So, whatever the nature of the pollutants, when the volumes of polluted soil in question are concentrated, limited in volume and accessible, common sense dictates that the source should be cleaned up, rather than embarking on costly and time-consuming studies that would ultimately lead to this management option.

Furthermore, in the event of accidental pollution, remedial action must be based on the principle of repair, with a view to restoring the site to its original state as far as possible.

The management measures envisaged are evolutionary, iterative, interactive and progressive. In fact, depending on the acquisition of data and the project, it is necessary to confirm, improve or modify the site management plan over time, or to adapt the redevelopment...
