6. Make sure the waste has been properly disposed of

When hazardous waste is collected, the producer of the waste issues a Bordereau de suivi de déchet (BSD) (waste tracking slip) based on the CERFA n° 12571*01 model. The producer must enter administrative data, the nature of the waste, its quantity, its packaging and whether the waste is subject to ADR, RID, ADNR or IMDG regulations for transport. For certain hazardous wastes, these regulations lay down specific conditions for transport by road, rail, ship or air.

A copy of the slip signed by the carrier is given to the producer at the time of collection, but it is only when the waste disposer in turn forwards a signed copy of the slip to the waste producer, informing him that the waste has been disposed of, that the producer is no longer responsible for the waste.
