1. The problem of industrial sludge

Industrial or municipal sludge has waste status. As such, its disposal must comply with increasingly stringent regulations governing its regulatory classification, and its physico-chemical, organic and microbiological composition.

However, a waste sludge can become a product sludge if it successfully undergoes a certification procedure or meets a standard conferring this product status (as in the case of sludge compost, NFU 44-095).

1.1 Definition of industrial sludge
