2.1 Structural properties of hybrid perovskites

The term "perovskite" originally referred to the mineral CaTiO 3 (calcium titanate), which was first described in 1839 by the German mineralogist Gustav Rose and named after the Russian mineralogist Lev Alexeyevich Perovski. Since then, it has been used to designate the corresponding crystal structure with the general formula ABC 3 .
