4. Static and dynamic stiffness
An essential point in the whole issue of anti-vibration or shock decoupling is to distinguish between the notions of static and dynamic stiffness for all the elements in the transfer chain (Figure 2 ), bearing in mind that the comment made about dynamic stiffness applies equally to the other five quantities that can be defined in vibration analysis (table 1 ).
