1. Objectives and content of the new F-Gas regulations

F-Gas are chemical compounds used in a variety of industries, including refrigeration, air conditioning and fire protection systems, but they are extremely potent greenhouse gases. The new F-Gas regulations, adopted under règlement (UE) 2024/573 , came into force on March 11, 2024. It reinforces existing measures to limit the use of fluorinated greenhouse gases (GHGs), in particular hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), in order to better meet the European Union's climate objectives.
