5. When should you get started, and what about ISO 50005:2021?

Throughout this document, we have referred to both ISO 50001:2011 and ISO 50001:2018. ISO 50001:2018 is a revision of the previous standard, emphasizing key points such as:

  • roles, responsibilities, and authorities;

  • consultation and participation of employees;

  • actions in response to risks and opportunities;

  • operational planning and control;

  • monitoring, analysis, measurement, and evaluation.

These new developments have a significant impact on companies' compliance.
