Who finances the renovation work?
The renovation work is financed by energy companies, which are required to encourage all energy consumers (individuals, industries, businesses, hotels, restaurants, etc.) to undertake renovation work to reduce their energy consumption.
This energy saving certificate (ESC) scheme is a flagship government measure designed to meet energy consumption reduction targets in France. It was introduced in 2006. In addition, through its France Relance program launched in September 2020, the government is granting additional subsidies based on the work carried out.
