3. Initial inspection of existing equipment

Law no. 2006-1772 of December 30, 2006 on water and aquatic environments clearly stipulates that municipalities must have inspected all existing non-collective sanitation installations by December 31, 2012 (2020 for Mayotte), in accordance with different procedures depending on the age of the non-collective sanitation installation.

3.1 Installations completed (or rehabilitated) before December 31, 1998

For facilities built or renovated before December 31, 1998, a diagnosis of proper operation and maintenance must be carried out. The procedures for this are set out in article 4 of the decree of September 7, 2009, on the procedures for carrying out inspections of non-collective sanitation facilities.
