5. Radar imaging

Calibrated measurement, as described above, is the key to analyzing the object's signature, identifying and locating SER contributors using different signal representations, and in particular radar imagery, which we will present below. In this section, we place ourselves in a monostatic configuration, as was the case in section 4. We have already seen that the SER of a target depends on the frequency and polarization of the incident electromagnetic wave, the orientation of the target and its constituent materials.

Various theoretical methods are used to account for the wave-target interaction, such as high-frequency approaches for large targets: geometrical optics, geometrical theory of diffraction (GTD).
