4. Tools presentation

There is a growing diversity of IT tools, mainly Intranet and Internet, to support knowledge management. A number of them, such as content and document management tools, have reached maturity, both in terms of technology and usage. These solutions have been operational in organizations since the early 2000s.

At the same time, "Web 2.0" tools such as blogs, wikis and social networks are emerging as new supports for knowledge management and collective intelligence. These new tools are repositioning the human factor as the main actor/holder of an organization's cognitive and informational capital.
