3. OOHDM approach. General concepts
The OOHDM method for object-oriented design of hypermedia applications is adapted to the development of Web applications. OOHDM uses various abstraction and composition mechanisms based on an object-oriented approach that allows for the concise description of complex information units on the one hand, and the specification of navigation patterns and complex interface transformations on the other.
In OOHDM, a hypermedia application is built according to a five-stage process. This process can be incremental and supports prototyping. Each step focuses on a particular design level, and an object-oriented model is built. Classification, aggregation and generalization/specialization are used during the process to enhance abstraction power and reuse opportunities. Let's summarize these five activities.
