2. Specific features of aluminum alloys

Before delving into the world of rolling, let's take a look at some of the special features of aluminum alloys.

2.1 Metallurgical aspects

First of all, let's remember that the melting temperature of alloys is between 900 and 950°K. This means that at 100°C (373°K), we're above the half-temperature considered to be the hot state for a metal. In rolling processes, the metal is very often above this temperature. Aluminum and its alloys do not undergo allotropic transformation. Geometric problems associated with phase changes are therefore limited.
